Born and raised in the farmlands of Bedfordshire, England, I always loved spending time with the local gamekeeper's dogs... sometimes on the wrong side of the fence. My father loved to hunt and we spent many days in the fields mastering the skills of hunting and learning about the wildlife. After finishing school, my transition to Her Majesty's Service was an easy one. I spent ten years in the British Special Forces, when I decided to pursue my passion for dogs and hunting. That was when I was given the opportunity to move to The United States. Now, after living in the states for many years, I have learned a great deal about the life of a professional dog trainer. It takes a certain type of person to survive in this business. After 30 years I have never stopped learning from the dogs, their owners and my fellow professionals. Thanks to Ed Forry, Pat Nolan, and Ted McCue, who recognized my ability, I was accepted into the PRTA in the early 90's. I am proud to be a life member of an elite group of professionals maintaining high standards for clients and their dogs. |
Our family has devoted our lives to these dogs. Twenty four hours a day we have their health and welfare as our main priority. As for the business and the endless tasks that have to be done, I can not take the credit. Victoria allows me to devote all my attention to training. Her devotion to the clients, love of dogs, and her willingness to make everyone happy makes Sharp Retrievers. Her knowledge of obedience and working in the puppy program are invaluable with getting the young dogs on the right start. I have learned having a woman's touch and voice with young dog's is an essential tool in our program.Once you meet us (or talk with either of us on the phone)it won't take long for you to see our passion for our business goes beyond the basic training. |
I have been involved in the AKC Hunt Tests and Field Trials for over 20 years. I am a life member of the PRTA, Tri-Tronics Influentials Club Member, endorsed by Orvis Training Dog Program and have been involved with many non-profit wildlife organizations. I have placed titles on dogs from many different breeding programs and breeds when they said it could not be done. I have spent many hours with the beaters in the beat line and running pick up dogs for the guns at Cows Neck on Eastern Long Island. I have been in this business many years and now I am happy to say my greatest satisfaction is getting a call from a client about the great day in the field with their dog. No matter how many ribbons, the true love of these talented dogs and their faithful owners is what makes our profession rewarding.
Our family looks forward to meeting you and your dog. Good Luck and Good Training!
